Dec 21: India Part 8

Just a quickie, for people who enjoy civil twilight.
(All photos are unedited. The colors are 'as-is,' straight from my point'n'shoot.

Amsterdam airport at sunrise.

90 minutes later, en route to Portland OR. (Notice the ships, bottom right.)

Heading North and West, over Greenland and back down.

Just 3 hours after sunrise, the sun sets.
Actually, the sun didn't change much. We just flew way North, away from the December sun.

Another hour later, the sun is still setting. Or is it rising? It's hard to tell.

Another 90 minutes later, and the sunset/sunrise is still holding.

We experienced about 4 hours of civil twilight.
Then, I fell asleep. The sun finally rose one last time, and we landed around midday in Portland.

I imagine people living near the poles might experience this everyday in winter. It would be a long 20 hours in between, but 4-6 hours of twilight would be beautiful.

July 7: Sample Stills

I'm still organizing video and compiling image sets into timelapse clips.
Here're are a few stills from the forthcoming clips.

Sometimes in the car.

Sometimes with rotation.

Sometimes at night.

Sometimes on the bike.

Sometimes wider.

Sometimes in tunnels.

Sometimes in camp, usually tired.

Sometimes posed.

And sometimes hanging by a web.

Sometime, at some point, I'll get some of this edited, and I'll post something, somewhere, somehow.

July 5: Oregon Preview

Returning from adventure, I have roughly 5000 new images, and hours of video.
(~125GB total media)
It will take some time to get things sorted (let alone edited...), but here's one set that works.

I can't decide what to call it.
It fits somewhere between Body Balance and Cloud Dancing.
'Stick Yoga' just doesn't quite do it.
Suggestions?

April 27: Get Fit

I've decided to tour the Oregon coast by bicycle. I'll start in Astoria and ride 400+ miles to Crescent City.
There's a lot to do before I'm ready, including getting fit, organizing gear, planning the route, etc.

I've ridden 120 miles this week, 20-30 miles at a time. I've done a mix of flatland cruising with the aero-bars and steep mountain climbs. The Oregon coast will demand that I can handle a varying pitch.

A friend also directed me towards this great site for tracking my rides.
www.mapmyride.com

Here's my flatter cruising ride from yesterday.
26 miles, with 1000'  total ascent.

Here's my steeper ride from Sunday.
35 miles with 3050' total ascent.
The last 2 miles are about 7-9% grade. (There's also a lot of snow up there at 7500'. The descent was rather cold.)

I've calculated the routes and profiles for the Oregon coast ride, broken into 40-60 mile increments. There's nothing as hard as the above ride, but I'll be hauling my camping gear and clothes. There are a couple big days, ~50 miles and ~3000' ascent. Yikes!

Wish me luck.
